The others matches in the grand slam are the Australian, the French and The US.

First played in 1877 with only 200 in attendance, Wimbledon has exploded into the most coveted title in tennis. It is the only one to be played on grass.

The Brits love their traditions at Wimbledon. Strawberries and cream, the royal box, ringing the bell on centre court, and the tennis whites for all the players are just a few.

Wimbledon is located in a leafy suburb of London.

King George and his court visited Cardinal Wolsey’s home years ago in Hampton Court, 10 minutes away from Wimbledon, He was served strawberries and cream and this has remained a popular treat ever since.

This year the trophy was presented by the lovely Princess Catherine of Wales.

Always a crowd favorite at the All England Lawn & Tennis Club, the Princess (a skilled player herself) is the patron of Wimbledon and has been court side these past two weeks of tournament play.

She comforted the losing player for the women as it was an exciting nail biter of a match.
